- Sussex Community FT – Special Care Dental Service is looking to recruit enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated Qualified Dental Nurses for our busy 6 surgery site.
- We have various part time and full time vacancies

The Special Care Dental Service is part of a countywide service providing NHS Dental treatment to patients on referral. We have clinics across the county, operating Mondays to Fridays, 08:30am to 4:30pm.
Main duties of the job
- To maintain high professional standards with a commitment to compulsory & continual professional development, as outlined by GDC and as applicable to Statutory Registration
- Liaise with doctors, dentists and care staff in clinics, hospitals and residential homes respecting their particular contributions within the care team
- Maintain accurate, computerised and paper dental records of patients to comply with the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust policies
- To conform to all Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust and Special Care Dentistry policies, procedures and guidelines
- Provide nursing cover at short notice and possibly for an extended period at any clinic throughout the county/ within regional area), (including the administrative responsibilities usually undertaken by the dental nurse in post) if alternate cover cannot be appointed
- Participate in supervision in line with trust policy
- Participate in evidence collation for The Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Job responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic dental nurse who has excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical skills, who works well within a team environment to support the needs of other dental colleagues.
We provide Special Care dentistry across five sites within West Sussex and Brighton areas for adults and children with additional needs in a variety of settings including Hospitals, community dental clinics, and domiciliary care.
Full training and induction will be provided along with continued professional development to support you in this role and to meet your GDC requirements.

Essential
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team and be able to support colleagues, prioritising tasks, and working well under pressure
Desirable
- Working knowledge of IT systems, reception duties, customer service and dental software
Qualifications
Essential
- NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent and post qualification or working towards
- GDC Registrant
Experience
Essential
- Good understanding of decontamination and infection control procedures
