Applications are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant Orthodontist post, at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a part-time fixed term (12 months ) appointment on a 5 PA job plan. There may also be potential to increase sessions. The post holder will be a part of an established multidisciplinary team providing orthodontic care for patients requiring orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, orthodontic/restorative dental treatment and complex orthodontic treatment.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake outpatient clinics new and follow-ups with supervision of junior staff as appropriate.
- Orthodontic treatment of complex malocclusions
- Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance, morbidity and mortality meetings
- Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.
- Supervision of the Specialist Registrars will be expected at the JR, Oxford.

Job responsibilities
- Undertake outpatient clinics new and follow-ups with supervision of junior staff as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.
- Develop and maintain good communication with General Practitioners (medical and dental), colleagues in the salaried dental services and local orthodontic specialist practitioners.
- Orthodontic treatment of complex malocclusions
- Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance, morbidity and mortality meetings
- Participation in the departmental educational activity.
- Share responsibility for data protection particularly digital and electronic records.
- Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.
- The post holder will comply with infection control practices and any relevant trust policies and procedures with regards to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
- Supervision of the Specialist Registrars will be expected at the JR, Oxford.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration with the GDC
- On the GDC Specialist Register
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation of eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
- Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent
- Intercollegiate Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent
Desirable
- MSc or equivalent
Experience

- Successful completion of an SAC-approved minimum three year training Programme in Orthodontics
- Successful completion of an SAC -approved minimum two year training in a PostCCST Training Appointment, or within 6 months of completion, or equivalent for other European Economic Area (EEA) Nationals
